Overview

Digitalisation and Industry 4.0 demands fresh new skills and knowledge which can be transferred to the workforce of the future.

This associate degree is an engineering and digital technologies course developed in conjunction with our industry partners. It will equip you with essential professional and technical skills in advanced manufacturing. You’ll study on campus at Swinburne, while also spending time with an industry partner.

You'll learn how to implement cyber physical systems using digital twin, artificial intelligence, Augmented Reality, mobile devices, cloud computing, CAD\CAM, advanced programming, analytics, electronics, automation and robotics, cybersecurity, networking and Industrial Internet of Things.

Graduates will be paraprofessionals within the engineering and technology industries with a focus on advanced manufacturing. The types of roles may include service technician or mechatronic/manufacturing technologist.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or equivalent.

CAD/CAM and engineering materials, Cyber security and cloud services, Digital control systems, Distributed control in a smart factory, Electrical systems, Industrial networking and cloud computing, Object oriented programming, Predictive engineering analytics, Robotics and digital twin, Smart product design using industry 4.0, Software tools for industry 4.0.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be certified para-professionals within the engineering industry. The types of roles may include: service technician, engineering technician, site installation technician, mechatronic/manufacturing technologist.
