Overview

In this course you’ll learn the principles of smart 3D modelling and associated tools such as virtual reality, photogrammetry, laser scanning and more.

You’ll learn how the different groups rely on each other across the lifecycle of a building and how digital workflows are the foundation of the smart cities of the future.

You’ll also engage in project-based learning using industry preferred software and workflows.

Graduates will be paraprofessionals within the engineering, construction or technology industries with a focus on advanced manufacturing and building information modelling. The types of roles may include BIM technician, BIM coordinator or digital assistant.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or equivalent.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates will be para-professionals and have job opportunities within the engineering construction industry in roles such as BIM technician, BIM manager, BIM coordinator or digital assistant.
