Overview

This course prepares students for a career as a commercial pilot delivering the academic and aeronautical knowledge, skills and experience to satisfy requirements for a Commercial Pilot Licence and Command Instrument Rating. Students will learn about the physics of aviation, flight planning, navigation, performance, loading and operations of small general aviation aircraft. Students will be skilled in calculating basic flight plans and fuel plans while studying metoerological and navigational factors that affect flying. This unique course combination allows eligible students to gain the required flight hours to satisfy a Commercial Pilot Licence utilising HECS-HELP scheme.

Students have the option to continue their studied and complete the Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations), allowing them to pursue careers with the airlines. For more course information, visit Associate Degree of Aviation (Flight Operations).

Potential Career Outcomes

You will initially enrol into the Associate Degree of Aviation (Flight Operations) and upon successfully completing your first term of study in the course you will then be enrolled into the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations). From that point on you will be enrolled in both the Associate Degree of Aviation (Flight Operations) and the Graduate Diploma of Aviation (Flight Operations).
