Overview

Through a blend of theory and hands-on subjects in hardware and software, networking, database concepts and java programming, you will gain the practical and theoretical skills you need to enter the computer industry.

A major component of this course will be learning to solve practical problems with laboratory work.

As a graduate of this course, you can specialise in system administration, networking, technical support, computer programming, web development, database administration, software development, and IT security.

Graduates can continue their studies and follow pathway opportunities that lead to a Bachelor degree and beyond.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in English other than EAL or at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in any Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Computer systems and platform technologies, Databases, Networking, Programming (Java), Software development, Software engineering, Unix essentials and Windows system administration, Virtualisation, Web programming.
