Overview

Students learn to identify and analyse legal concepts and principles in legal practice, and develop high level legal and administrative skills required in the increasingly complex role of a paralegal.

Students develop skills in case analysis, legal methods and technology used in practice, legal writing and drafting, interview and negotiation skills, together with an awareness of legal professional and social responsibilities.

The course includes prescribed specialised studies in law, legal practice and conveyancing. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their legal knowledge and their awareness of professional responsibilities in subjects like professional skills and responsibility and through an internship in the final semester. To maximise understanding of the relevance of studies to the world of work, students are exposed to simulated case studies, role plays, guest lectures from legal industry professionals, and RMIT's practice firm.
