Overview

Civil and infrastructure engineers plan, design, construct, supervise, manage and maintain the essential infrastructure of our modern community. They aim to be responsive to wider community needs and reflective of the values that relate to the economic, environmental and social impacts of projects.

As an RMIT civil engineering student, you’ll study a civil and infrastructure degree that is at the forefront of engineering education and is designed to satisfy industry demand. You’ll be able to specialise in civil infrastructure projects, geo-technical works, structures, transport or water resources.

The course emphasises work experience and project-based learning. Minors are designed to current industry demand and allow you to customise your studies to suit your interests.

Graduates acquire good interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of engineering theory and the ability to apply learning and knowledge to a wide range of situations.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: Further Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
