Overview

This course prepares high-achieving, highly motivated students to be future science leaders and researchers. First-year core subjects emphasise quantitative and computational skills while third-year students undertake a research internship to explore an outstanding problem in their chosen fields. Leading science professionals deliver seminars designed to develop students' capacity to engage with the multidisciplinary challenges of the modern world. Students participate in fieldwork and practical activities to better understand the biological, physical, chemical, and geological processes that structure natural environments. The Physics major of this course is accredited by the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP). For current course information, visit Bachelor of Advanced Science at JCU. Prerequisites

Majors

Townsville: Advanced molecular and cell biology; aquaculture science and technology; chemistry; data science; earth science; marine biology; mathematics; physics; zoology and ecology. Cairns: Data science; earth science; zoology and ecology. The first year only of the aquaculture science and technology and marine biology majors can be studied at Cairns.
