Aerospace Systems Engineering involves the design, maintenance, support and upgrade of military and civilian aircraft, and satellite systems. Aerospace systems are complex systems involving lightweight flight platforms and their associated sensing, command, control and mission systems. This includes ground, air and space-based support, navigation and communications infrastructure. These are commonly referred to as ‘systems of systems’ and the associated systems engineering involves assuring reliable interaction of subsystems and reliable operation and performance of missions to meet specified sets of requirements.
Aerospace design and materials, aircraft performance and operations, aircraft systems and avionics, embedded systems engineering, principles of flight, propulsion systems, automatic flight control systems, and aerospace system design.
Elective pathways: All University of Newcastle Engineering (Honours) programs facilitate the study of a wide range of elective pathways to customise our students' learning experience. These can deepen or broaden the knowledge base of the core program, depending on the student's desires and interests.
