Overview

This is one of the few agriculture degrees in Australia with a practical focus. Specially designed with industry input, graduates of this degree are prepared to meet the needs of an industry currently being transformed by technology and digital disruption.

Choose from specialisations such as agronomy, viticulture and winemaking or sports turf science and management.

Delivered in partnership with Melbourne Polytechnic, the course combines classroom and online learning with practical study opportunities. You will gain hands-on experience in Melbourne Polytechnic's labs and facilities, including the wireless sensor platforms at Melbourne Polytechnic farms.

You will have the opportunity to complete an industry placement as part of your degree.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Successful completion of a Certificate IV or higher qualification in any discipline; OR at least 2 years of high level management or relevant industry experience; OR a combination of qualifications and industry experience.

Agronomy, Sports turf science and management, Viticulture and winemaking.

Potential Career Outcomes

You'll graduate with the skills and knowledge to explore a variety of roles in agriculture, with opportunities to build a career as an agronomist, winemaker, vineyard manager, stud manager, equine event manager, equine nutritionist, vet technician or turf manager at a sports facility, park or turf farm.
