Overview

This course is part of Swinburne’s 2024 Early Entry Program. You will be selected for entry based on your subject study scores and school recommendation, instead of your ATAR. To be eligible, you must submit an online application and preference this course in VTAC. Learn more 

Get hands-on experience in 2D, 3D and stop-motion animation for film and television, visual effects and games. Access state-of-the-art workstations, a purpose-built animation studio, interactive pen displays, high-end cameras and render farms for processing 3D computer animation to bring stories and characters to life.

Bolster your CV with real industry experience through our Work Integrated Learning programs. In the units Major Project: Development and Pre and Post-Production (ANI30001 & ANI30002), you’ll work as a team to pitch, develop and produce a project for exhibition within public film or animation festivals, public galleries or public broadcast.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Majors

2D and 3D production techniques for animation, Acting for animation, Action analysis and locomotion, Advanced character design for animation, Character and environment design, Genre and the moving image, History of animation, Producing and production management, Sound design and acquisition, Writing and directing for animation.

Potential Career Outcomes

This qualification provides a range of opportunities within the film, television and animation industries as well as allied creative industries such as the games, web broadcasting, education and digital media areas. The type of roles this qualification leads to may include cinematographer, editor, 2D and 3D animators, stop motion animator, director, producer, screenwriter.
