Overview

Tackle some of today’s biggest challenges. In La Trobe's major in politics, you’ll examine how power is used in different systems of government. Then investigate the institutions, processes, beliefs and cultures that societies have developed for settling conflict.

Offered through La Trobe’s Bachelor of Arts, in this major you’ll study how power shapes politics, governments and life in Australia and around the world. By its nature, politics is an argumentative discipline, so you'll learn how to navigate competing arguments and weigh up competing priorities.

La Trobe's Bachelor of Arts gives you the choice, flexibility and support you need to follow your interests and pursue your passion. You can choose from an incredible array of majors and minors in humanities, social sciences, business, health, science and more. Graduate with your primary major on your academic transcript, so future employers will see the specialised skills you gained at La Trobe.
