Overview

Literary and Cultural Studies explores the development of cultures, and how meanings within them are circulated through the creation, production and dissemination of texts. You will focus on the construction of complex meaning and the ways in which values and ideas are articulated. It may suit you if you are interested in literature, popular culture and how society came to be the way it is today. You will explore a number of media including: examples of popular culture such as blockbuster films, television and digital texts; examples of “high” culture such as literary texts and the film canon, and; examples of alternative/independent culture such as art film, music multimedia and various expressions of counterculture.
