With the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) you will gain a deep understanding of the science behind human behaviour. You will learn how to apply this knowledge to a career in psychology or a related field, improving wellbeing and potentially saving lives.

Who are we? Why do we think and behave the way we do? What can be done to improve mental wellbeing? In the Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) degree you will address these key questions and more. You will be learning from recognised and passionate leaders in their field. The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) will provide you with comprehensive training in the processes basic to human psychological functioning required for qualification as a professional psychologist. You can also combine your Psychology major with other disciplines available in the Bachelor of Arts degree, as well as approved majors in areas such as marketing and human resources management. This will allow you to expand your understanding of the human experience and broaden your career options.

The Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) will teach you the processes basic to human psychology. Subjects include biological and social bases of behaviour, cognition and perception, social and developmental psychology, personality, and applied psychology. You will also learn the fundamentals of psychological practice, including the history of psychology, statistical and quantitative methods, and psychological assessment.This course is a partial qualification for provisional registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and provides a pathway to postgraduate research and study programs that lead to full registration.

Career opportunities

Drug and alcohol counselling, health education, human resource management, industrial relations, market and social research. A career as a primary teacher is possible with the addition of the Master of Teaching.
