Overview

Want to master one of the fastest-growing languages worldwide? Over 450 million people speak Spanish as their first language - and many more speak it as a second. Native speakers of Spanish can be found in more than twenty countries, and it is the third most studied language in the world. Learning its intricacies will open doors in a changing world and connect you with diverse cultures across the globe.

What will you do?

Our Bachelor of Arts (Spanish Studies) has a strong focus on teamwork, collaboration, and industry internships. You will:

  • learn to speak, read and write Spanish
  • build communication and intercultural skills
  • improve your knowledge of how language works
  • study cultures of the Hispanic world through music recordings, video clips, movies and short stories produced in Spain and Latin America
In addition to Spanish Studies, our Bachelor of Arts program allows you to explore other interests by taking a minor (or another major) in a different discipline area. You can choose elective courses from the broadest range of study areas in the Arts in South Australia.

Where could it take you?

You could work as a diplomat, in policy, for a Spanish content agency, or at Latin American film festivals. You might pursue international business, helping companies with communication and cultural understanding. Perhaps you're interested in translation, teaching or tourism.
