Overview

As a society, we rely heavily on our banks for our economy to function. From capital markets to financial forecasting, you'll explore what makes banking and finance such a central part of the world today, and learn the skills required to build a successful career.

In this course you'll focus on the key theories, practices and concepts that underpin the banking and finance sector, and the skills required for managing money in an institutional setting, as well as how to assess the financial needs of companies, governments and individuals and match them to suitable financial products.

Your entire course will be structured around building your knowledge and skills in this area - with a focus on corporate finance, commercial banking, equity markets, financial planning and investment banking. You'll also gain the skills and knowledge to work across a range of areas from trading rooms to investment banking or personal financial planning.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 22 in one of Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or at least 25 in Maths: General Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
