If you want to contribute to a more sustainable future, La Trobe's major in ecology will give you the skills and knowledge to make a difference on some of the big issues facing humanity.

Offered through La Trobe's Bachelor of Biological Sciences, you'll discover the diversity of plants and animals in Australia, make your own observations on plants and animals and the complex relationships between species, learn about current and emerging threads to flora and fauna, find ways to protect and manage threatened species and much more.

La Trobe's Bachelor of Biological Sciences gives you a strong scientific grounding with the flexibility to specialise in an area that interests you, including biochemistry, botany, ecology, genetics, human physiological sciences, microbiology and zoology. You’ll also be able to take a double major or choose an additional minor.

Get hands-on experience in our on-campus labs and participate in industry-led workshops and work placement opportunities.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Ecology.
