Overview

Obtain a strong foundation in medical sciences and practical experimentation through advanced laboratory skills. The course comprises core areas of study in a broad range of topics including Physiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Medical Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology and Human Genetics. You will gain an in-depth understanding of how the body works from the molecular level through to physiological functions.

You'll expand and apply your knowledge of biomedical science to the causes, diagnosis and treatment of disease at molecular, cellular and system levels. The course ensures students have the skills and capabilities required for a diverse range of careers in biomedical science and postgraduate study.

Minors available as part of this course include: Applied Research, Anatomy and Integrated Physiology and Molecular Cell Biology.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Health And Human Development, any Mathematics or Physical Education.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for year 12 or equivalent.

Majors

Human Physiology, Molecular Cell Biology.
