Overview

In this course, students acquire the skills required to perform high-level financial and economic analysis in both the public and private sector.

This four year course consists of common core subjects in business and major studies in economics and finance. Students will gain exposure to industry software and conditions in the RMIT Trading Facility. In this purpose-built simulator, students learn to trade in money and foreign exchange markets using a live market data feed from Thomson Reuters Eikon.

A business design project completed in the final year is aimed at consolidating the theoretical and practical experience components of the course.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Graduates will be prepared for a range of occupations and industries, such as banking, stockbroking, funds management, insurance and superannuation, and in other private sector or government organisations requiring high-level, technical expertise in financial or economic analysis.
