Overview

The Bachelor of Business (Event Management) delivers key information on marketing and public relations, event policy, business strategy, logistics and risk, consumer behaviour, applied finance and business law. Covering everything required for the planning and running of events at different scales, an event management degree also provides opportunities for industry specialisation in hospitality, tourism, marketing, public relations and advertising.

This course will help you learn how to bring events to life. You'll learn how to come up with creative themes and formats, and manage clients to ensure their expectation for an event is met. You'll gain a thorough understanding of the legal, marketing, financial and strategic concepts in event management. You will also gain practical industry skills in project, strategic and event management and have the option to specialise in hospitality, tourism, marketing, public relations and advertising. Learning outcomes

  • Create smooth-running large-scale events, leaving guests satisfied
  • Launch eye-catching and exciting marketing strategies based around functions
  • Develop experience in handling logistical issues and problem-solving on the fly
  • Master the managerial and delegation skills that make running great events possible
Note: Flexible study options are available including on-campus, online or a hybrid of both.

Areas of Study: Business communications, customer experience management, understanding people and organisations, marketing fundamentals, the business environment, accounting for decision making, ethics and sustainability, organizational creativity and innovation.

Career Opportunities: Event manager, event coordinator, event project manager, promotions manager, event executive.

Practical experience: An important element of this course is the placement of the students with an endorsed host organisation(s). Work placements provide a valuable resource for you to develop hands-on practical experience to ensure you graduate confident and job-ready. A key task will be the completion of a reflective journal covering the experience and the identification and analysis of key learning outcomes. Work placement hours: 300 hours.
