Overview

Understand the principles of market research, the segmentation of markets and identification of target markets, pricing strategies, and the importance of advertising and promotion. In this degree, you'll learn how to understand customers' wants and needs, and how to create, communicate and deliver products and services. Learn practical skills and how to analyse data in order to develop marketing strategies across all sectors of the economy. This degree will provide you with the opportunity to develop broad knowledge and competencies to facilitate a career in business-related fields. You will be encouraged and supported to develop transferable interpersonal and professional capabilities, including the capability to be reflective, self-evaluating and critically engaged. You will apply your knowledge and competencies to a broad range of business/organisational practices including systems and processes, planning, production, operations and the use of current and emerging data and analytical practices.

Marketing is one of the core activities of all organisations and is about planning and executing the selling and/or promotion of a firm's product. In this degree students learn about the principles of market research, market segmentation, target market identification, pricing strategies, advertising and promotions and international and strategic marketing. Students can also select from a range of additional marketing topics including social media marketing, marketing communications, services marketing and marketing applications.

On completion of this degree students will be able to critically apply broad theoretical and technical accounting, finance, economic, marketing, and human resources management knowledge and skills to inform management planning and analyse management practices and decisions using theoretical and technical knowledge of regulatory, governance, compliance and legal requirements. Students will be able to explain the impact of socially responsible, ethical, economic, regulatory, sustainability, governance and global perspectives on management planning and practices.

This degree prepares graduates for a wide range of employment opportunities or further study. Potential occupations may include marketing manager, market analyst and marketing consultant; potential employers may include government agencies and private sector businesses.
