Overview

Designed with a multidisciplinary approach, this degree prepares you for professional roles in the rapidly expanding global sport development and management industry.

This is an opportunity to combine your passion for sport with an understanding of the business aspects of the industry, planting a focus on the needs of rural and regional communities.

You'll learn the fundamentals of business, economics and finance, along with key principles of sport marketing and sport management. You'll learn about the relationships between sport and the media, sport and exercise physiology, and sport development and sport policy.

You'll undertake work placements where you'll analyse current practices, apply sport development and management theory, and develop industry connections. You'll also attend workshops that develop your employability.

You can tailor your degree with a choice of electives in public health, management, economics, law, finance, marketing or physical and outdoor education.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Majors

Sport Development and Management.

Potential Career Outcomes

You'll graduate with a solid foundation for careers in federal, state and local government, community sport leagues and not-for-profit organisations. This course also prepares you for work in community and international development, and health promotion.
