Overview

The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) is endorsed by Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ) and the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia. It's designed to meet the global demand for high-quality commerce graduates, providing you with the opportunity to specialise in accounting and/or finance. The course includes an industry placement as well as an opportunity to undertake a global learning experience with a partner institution. The Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) consists of 24 subjects: 17 core subjects and 7 elective subjects to specialise in Accounting, Finance or both. Industry is embedded in our curriculum. You will get hands-on experience with industry-leading software used in the industry, including Xero, and you'll have the opportunity to become Xero-certified. Learning outcomes
  • Gain an understanding of investments at corporate and shareholder levels
  • Develop theoretical knowledge while working with real-life practical examples
  • Understand the inner workings of business information systems
  • Gain or enhance your management and leadership skills
Note: Flexible study options are available including on-campus, online or a hybrid of both.

Areas of Study: Business communications, principles of accounting, quantitative analysis, principles of finance, principles of economics, business law, management, leadership & professional practice, business information systems.

Career Opportunities: Accountant, market analyst, banker, chief financial officer, entrepreneur.

Practical experience: An important element of this course is the placement of the students with an endorsed host organisation(s). Work placements provide a valuable resource for you to develop hands-on practical experience to ensure you graduate confident and job-ready. A key task will be the completion of a reflective journal covering the experience and the identification and analysis of key learning outcomes. Work placement hours: 120 hours.
