Overview

Step onto a world stage of global opportunities, when you study international studies alongside communication and media at UOW. You will focus on internationalisation and globalisation from different perspectives in this complimentary double degree. Examine the relationships of politics, society, culture, language, and history globally as you learn to analyse, appreciate and study the diversity of the global community.

What forces shape the modern world? How do we create messages that cut through the crowded global media landscape? On completion of this double degree, you will be able to answer these questions and more as you are prepared for a career in the world of digital communications and social media in an international context.

You'll benefit from our expertise in international relations and our involvement in issues of global development and sustainability. Build a strong understanding of the global communication and media industries as you are prepared for global careers with flexible and transferable skills. You will gain invaluable language skills as you learn about the forces shaping the modern world and the theories that underpin our understanding of the most important global issues. During your double degree, you will learn core skills across both disciplines. Then, you will select majors from a wide set of options to help build your specialist knowledge. Throughout this degree you will have the opportunity to gain real-world experience and make professional connections and are strongly encouraged to undertake study abroad to further expand your skills.

Areas of study

Bachelor of Communication and Media: Digital and social media, journalism, marketing communication and advertising, screen media production, visual communication design. Bachelor of International Studies: Global sustainable development, international history, international relations. All students complete a core of interdisciplinary international studies subjects. You must complete a language minor in one of the following languages: Chinese (Mandarin), French, Japanese, Spanish and one of the above majors.
