Overview

This course offers an interdisciplinary communication degree incorporating specialist study in journalism, media, advertising and public relations. 
 
The approach of this course reflects the workplace reality of increasing integration of media and communication disciplines and the need for diverse knowledge, skills and perspectives that can be applied across platforms and industries. The degree combines professional practice with theoretical frameworks and includes complementary studies that promote analytical and research skills. 
 
The broader learning experience is enhanced through focused studies in Approaches to Popular Culture, Asian Media and Culture, Cinema Studies, Contemporary Politics and Communication or Literary Studies, as well as a range of electives subjects.

Students must complete core subjects in advertising, journalism, media production and public relations before choosing a discipline specialisation.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in any English.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.
