Overview

Develop the business planning, logistics and marketing skills to thrive in the fast-paced festivals sector. Learn the essential entrepreneurial skills to 'make it' in the festivals and arts landscape, and tailor the degree to meet your individual goals in the creative industries. You'll be mentored to set your own unique path long before you graduate and you'll learn essential skills in event management, design and communication. You'll graduate with the technical knowledge to plan and deliver large-scale events, plus hands-on experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary creative team to curate and produce your own site-specific arts projects.

The Bachelor of Creative Industries (Festivals and Arts Production) aims to develop the creativity, strategic thinking, business capability and practical skills required for success in the creative and cultural industries sector and specifically in the design and development of festivals and arts events. This degree promotes the ability to work adaptively with new media and disruptive technologies in a fast-changing technologically driven industry environment and provides experience in working collaboratively, as part of an interdisciplinary creative team.

On completion of this degree students will be able to apply theories of creative production and cultural value to analyse festivals and arts events and critically assess festivals and arts events in terms of their feasibility, sustainability and cultural and societal outcomes. Students will develop and deliver creative industries projects and events while working independently and collaboratively with a range of partnership opportunities and funding sources for creative industries projects and events. Students will be able to interpret and critically evaluate contemporary policy for the creative arts and industries and combine skills in creative development, project management and marketing and apply them to deliver festivals and arts events.

This degree prepares graduates for careers in creative and cultural industries. Potential occupations may include event coordinator, producer and grant administrator; potential employers may include festivals, youth arts organisations and local and state government organisations.
