Overview

In this course, students become specialists in animation and interactive media design including 2D and 3D animation, motion graphics, and special effects.

The curriculum looks at animation in all its forms, from the animated character to motion graphics across linear and interactive environments. Presented in a creative and supportive environment, the course focuses on rigorous investigation and conceptual development.

Students and staff enjoy wide national and international acknowledgement and exhibit at festivals and conferences such as Siggraph, MIAF, MIFF, LIAF, Cannes, White Night and Annecy. They can also undertake internships/industry engagements and study abroad.

Graduates demonstrate aesthetic maturity and strong technical abilities within design, media and art disciplines.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

This qualification can lead to careers including animators, motion graphics designers, character designers, pre-production artists, 3D visualisers and modellers, visual effects artists, web designers, art directors, digital artists and teachers.
