Overview

Combine design creativity with business knowledge and skills to support your creative endeavours or those of others. You will learn how to harness design thinking alongside business sense to take advantage of the commercialisation of design in a variety of specialisations, including visual communication, product or interior design and immersive media and interaction design. You will have a unique range of skills and abilities to bridge the creative-business divide.

It is recommended that students have their own laptop computer by the start of first year.

Prerequisites

Portfolio and interview.

Applicants applying to commence in Trimester 3, 2023 also need to meet the following subject prerequisite: Any two units of English (Band 3).

For Design: Majors: Immersive design, interaction design, interior and spatial design, product design, visual communication design.

For Business: Majors: Accounting, Asian business, Asian engagement, behavioural science, business analytics, economics, employment relations, events, finance, financial planning, government and international relations, human resource management, innovation and entrepreneurship, international business, logistics and supply chain management, management, marketing, real estate and property development, sport management, sustainable business, taxation, tourism and travel.

Career opportunities

Depending on your areas of specialisation, you may find roles in graphic design, interior design, product design, digital web design, design management, design education, film and television, theatre, furniture design, digital media, or a variety of design-related roles in not-for-profit, government and corporate organisations, as well as in start-ups and entrepreneurial enterprises.
