Overview

Students specialise in educating and caring for children from birth to 5 years of age. Emphasis is placed on child-centred learning, leadership advocacy, relational pedagogy, and the administrative and management skills required for a range of careers in prior to school settings. Professional experience placements help students to gain caring and teaching practice, while additional engagement activities allow students to network with current teachers and industry specialists. Graduates have early childhood teaching expertise and are positioned to work in a range of early childhood learning environments. This qualification is approved to meet the requirements of the ACECQA framework and leads to careers in early childhood education and care centres, kindergartens, family day care programs, and other important and interesting work with young children and families. This qualification is not accredited with Queensland College of Teachers and does not lead to registration in schools. If you are interested in a program leading to eligibility to apply for registration as teacher, we recommend studying the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood). For more program information, visit Bachelor of Early Childhood at UniSQ.
