Overview

This degree prepares you for a teaching career in early childhood, primary and special education schools.

The foundation year of the program allows you to build strong knowledge around professional literacy and numeracy skills, equipping you with a deep understanding of contemporary approaches to learning.

You'll also have the opportunity to become a specialist in mathematics and literacy education, enhancing your skills as an early childhood and primary teacher.

The program reflects a holistic developmental understanding of learning across early childhood and primary years. It acknowledges differences associated with the developmental nature of growth and learning from birth to 12 years of age.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Education, Teaching (Early Childhood), Teaching (Primary).

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates can apply for registration to teach in early childhood, primary and special education schools. It is anticipated that graduates from this program will be valued professionals in any of these institutions.
