Overview

This double degree course will provide you with a high quality education in science or mathematics and prepare you to offer children the same. Increasingly there is a call for primary teachers with specialist expertise who can support schools to improve children's learning in science and mathematics through the use of engaging and creative learning and teaching techniques.

You will be qualified to teach children aged 5-12 years, across the primary school curriculum but with highly valued specialist expertise.

You can also pursue a career in a wide range of professions that draw on your studies in science and in education, perhaps developing engaging programs for children visiting science centres or museums, or developing and publishing resources that engage the community with science. The options are broad and the choice is yours.

This double degree course is equivalent to 4.25 years of full time study but is completed in 4 calendar years.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography, Maths: Mathematical Methods, Maths: Specialist Mathematics, Physics or Psychology.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
