Overview

If you are passionate about science or mathematics and about communicating them to others, this double degree course offers you the opportunity of a career in either.

It will provide you with a high quality education in science or mathematics and prepare you to offer your students the same in secondary schools.

You will qualify as a specialist secondary teacher with two specialist teaching areas which could include physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, geography, general science or psychology or another teaching area.

You will graduate capable of leading innovation in a range of secondary school settings.

You might also turn your skills to broader science education contexts such as science communication, museums and publishing.

This double degree course is equivalent to 4.25 years of full time study but is completed in 4 calendar years.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in one of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography, Maths: Mathematical Methods, Maths: Specialist Mathematics, Physics or Psychology.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 (or Year 12 equivalent).
