Overview

As a primary teacher you will have a creative, challenging and rewarding career helping and inspiring children to develop important lifelong skills. You will become adept at managing social, cultural and developmental diversity. You can choose from a range of subject areas in English, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, Indigenous Education, Languages (Spanish or Italian), Science and Technologies, Religious Education, The Arts or Indigenous Education available to First Peoples.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 1 and 2: satisfactory completion in two units (any study combination) of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or Units 3 and 4: any Mathematics; Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Subject proficiency: As for year 12 or equivalent; The minimum selection rank for this course, is equivalent to an ATAR of 70.00.

Potential Career Outcomes

This course provides professional and academic education for graduates to teach in primary schools. By selecting religious education and/or theology units, graduates will be eligible to teach in Catholic and other faith-based schools.
