Overview

This course allows Indigenous people in remote, isolated and regional Queensland communities to undertake a Bachelor of Education (Primary). The course examines learners and learning theories, curriculum studies and approaches to teaching and assessment. Professional experience involves practical work in schools and a variety of educational settings. Teacher coordinators at RATEP centres support students who study using web and print-based materials and interactive communication technologies. Students are expected to attend on-campus and professional experience activities throughout the course. This course is a community-based teacher education program. This course is nationally accredited through the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) in association with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT). Graduates of this course are eligible for teacher registration in Australia.
