Overview

The Secondary Education degree provides a qualification enabling you to teach students in Years 7-12 in Government, Catholic and Independent secondary schools, whilst at the same time allowing you to pursue another specialist interest.

This major will prepare you with content and pedagogical knowledge to teach in the Chemistry subject area in Years 11 and 12, as well as across the Science curriculum area from Years 7 to 12.

You will also choose a second teaching area specialisation, which can be:
•    a minor teaching area in an area other than Science in the school curriculum; OR
•    units that deepen your understanding of Chemistry and extend your curriculum and pedagogical knowledge in Science; OR
•    further studies in an education speciality, such as Catholic Education

Prerequisites

Essential: Mathematics Applications ATAR and Chemistry ATAR.


Desirable: Mathematics Methods ATAR and Physics ATAR.
