Learn to build and maintain the infrastructure of advanced modern living when you study to become a civil engineer at UOW. You will discover how to plan, design, construct, operate and maintain everything, including buildings, bridges, tunnels, dams, highways, airports, power plants, and water and sewerage systems. You will grow an advanced knowledge of structural engineering, water engineering, geomechanics, engineering management, engineering applications and design, materials and transport, and surveying to support entering a career in civil engineering.
You will study a common first year allowing you to learn more about engineering and its different fields before focusing on civil engineering from your second year onwards. The common first year provides you with sound fundamentals in mathematics,
statistics, physics, computing, engineering science and communication, mechanics and materials. This degree includes a 12-week hands-on industry placement. You may gain credit for relevant work experience, either in Australia or overseas, by participating in our Professional Options Program.
The first year provides you with sound fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, physics, computing, engineering science and communication, mechanics and materials.
You then focus on your civil engineering major from the second year. Your studies will cover engineering applications and design, engineering management, geomechanics, materials and transport, structural engineering, surveying, water engineering.
