Overview

When you combine engineering and IT, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills needed to plan, manage, design and build engineering projects. You’ll also develop communication, research and critical analysis skills to make you highly employable. In fact, two of the fastest growing sectors for jobs growth are engineering and IT. This double degree has these two disciplines at its core and sets you up for a wide choice of career opportunities. You’ll develop the knowledge and practical skills in planning, management, design and build of engineering projects, with your choice of major allowing you to specialise in the area you’re most interested in. You’ll also achieve a high level of core IT technical knowledge and a specialisation in either information systems or networks and security. Prerequisites

Majors

Engineering: civil engineering; electrical and electronic engineering (Gold Coast); electronic engineering (Nathan); environmental engineering (Nathan); mechanical engineering. Information technology: information systems; networks and security; software development (Gold Coast).

Potential Career Outcomes

Depending on your major, you can choose to pursue a career in electronics design and fabrication, systems engineering, embedded systems engineering, computer systems engineering, corporate IT, construction engineering or with government authorities.
