Overview

Combine an interest in mathematics with an accredited qualification in engineering. This dual degree will provide students with the skills to apply advanced mathematics to engineering fields. They graduate with technical engineering expertise as well as essential workplace skills in communication, teamwork, project management, and problem-solving. Studying the mathematics program in parallel will boost students' engineering expertise and also open pathways to further higher study, such as honours in mathematics. In the mathematics component, students develop a high level of sophistication in the applications of mathematics. Modern computation, advances in scientific technology and the increasing production of data have increased the scope for applications of mathematics beyond the traditional areas of engineering and the physical sciences to include fields such as finance, economics, information technology and molecular biology. Graduates with high-level quantitative and analytic skills play a key role at the forefront of new developments in these and other fields. For more information, visit Bachelors of Engineering (Hons)/Mathematics at UQ.
