Overview

Mechanical engineers design, analyse, manufacture, manage and maintain mechanical systems including fluid and thermal systems. Areas of work include product design and manufacture, transport, agriculture, product and materials processing, renewable and non-renewable energy and power production, medicine, air-conditioning, the built environment, and many more. The Mechanical Engineering major prepares students to enter this ever-changing and challenging profession through the development of a good understanding of the knowledge, skills and practices that underpin the discipline. Students take on real engineering challenges in design-focused studios throughout the program.
