Students who undertake the required subject prerequisite topics in the first year of the Bachelor of Engineering Science and meet the minimum academic requirements for transfer can complete a Flinders Engineering (Honours) degree in five years full-time study (or equivalent part-time). Graduates who do not wish to transfer to a four-year engineering degree can obtain roles in sectors such as telecommunications, robotics, automotive, mining and defence.

This degree prepares graduates for ongoing professional development, preparing graduates for further study or for a career in an engineering related field or in other areas where the range of skills and knowledge acquired is needed or desirable. Potential occupations may include customer support engineer, project manager and systems engineer; potential employers may include engineering firms, small business and government agencies.
