Flinders University - Bedford Park Campus
The Bachelor of Engineering Science has been designed to provide a foundation in both the theoretical and the practical aspects of engineering with an awareness of social, economic, cultural, and environmental aspects and an ability to critically analyse and evaluate information and solve problems.
On completion of the degree students will be able to competently use professional skills and knowledge in the systematic development of engineering system and communicate effectively with other engineers and the wider global community using a wide range of communication technologies. This degree will develop engineering solutions appropriate to the social, political, international, economic, and environmental contexts in which they are applied.
This degree can be used as a pathway to a four-year Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree. Students who undertake the required subject prerequisite topics in the first year of the Bachelor of Engineering Science and meet the minimum academic requirements for transfer can complete a Flinders Engineering (Honours) degree in five years full-time study (or equivalent part-time). Graduates who do not wish to transfer to a four-year engineering degree can obtain roles in sectors such as telecommunications, robotics, automotive, mining and defence.
This degree prepares graduates for ongoing professional development, preparing graduates for further study or for a career in an engineering related field or in other areas where the range of skills and knowledge acquired is needed or desirable. Potential occupations may include customer support engineer, project manager and systems engineer; potential employers may include engineering firms, small business and government agencies.
