Overview

This four-year combined degree represents a unique and exciting pathway to work in a cutting-edge, high-technology area. The pairing of a Bachelor of Engineering Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Physics represents a pathway to a highly paid and long career at the forefront of electronic and electromagnetic technologies. This degree is accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of engineering technologist. Engineering technology courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised internationally under the Sydney Accord. Graduates meet the academic requirements at the level of Engineering Technologist.

The course encompasses a wide range of communication mediums including radar, radio and microwaves. A particular focus will be placed on technologies that adopt these in conjunction with studies in signal processing, infrared imaging systems, multi-spectral sensing, satellite communications, computer networks and telecommunications. It includes placements and projects in collaboration with the government and defence industry but with applicability well beyond defence

Professionals in this area work in a variety of organisations including defence, telecommunications, computer and information security. In addition, because graduates obtain degrees in both engineering and physics, all graduate options available to electronic engineers and physicists are also available.
