The world needs skilled scientists and innovators to develop solutions to the complex environmental problems facing our planet. This flexible course provides you with a broad foundation in the core theories and specialised applied skills that underpin the many disciplines of environmental science. It also provides a strong scientific understanding of local and global environmental issues and their management including Indigenous methods for sustainable practice. This program builds on a community of peer learning with nationally and internationally recognised academic teachers and researchers.

With small class sizes and excellent staff to student ratios, you will gain hands-on experience in the field and laboratory, solving real-world problems, underpinned by cutting-edge research.

UNE is one of Australia’s leading providers in environmental science. With state- of-the-art facilities and a team of world class scientists, we tackle major environmental challenges such as food security, pollution, climate change and conserving biodiversity and threatened species, particularly in rural and regional Australia.

With a range of majors and interdisciplinary minors covering the breadth of environmental science, you will find a program of study that suits you. Access state-of-the-art facilities in our interactive learning environment both on-campus and online, allowing you to tailor your study.

Our work-integrated learning unit allows you to work with an industry or business partner, while research units allow you to explore a specialisation or research opportunity.

Subject to COVID-19 travel restrictions, you may opt to study overseas or take part in international field trips. For example, learn more about wildlife conservation in Botswana and New Zealand, or Himalayan ecology in Bhutan.

Progress to an honours degree if you have an above average academic record and wish to continue with your studies, or combine this course with our Bachelor of Laws for a career in environmental science and law.
