Overview

Studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science at Griffith will ready you to apply scientific rigor to environmental management decision-making. It will equip you with the skills and knowledge to help make a difference to key challenges of the 21st century and contribute to building resilient communities. You’ll gain knowledge and skills from across the broad environmental science spectrum, exploring environmental issues from social, physical and biological perspectives. After completing core science courses in your first year of study, you’ll choose a major that suits your interests and career plans. You can choose to study a double major and still graduate in three years with your additional specialisation. The final year includes a ‘capstone’ experience where you have the option to engage with university research, undertake an extended fieldwork program in your major, and/or complete an industry placement. Prerequisites

Majors

Ecology and conservation; environmental chemistry; soil and water science (Nathan only); urban environments.

Potential Career Outcomes

Depending on your major, you’ll be prepared for work in positions such as environmental officer, environmental consultant, wildlife biologist, conservation ecologist, environmental chemist and environmental scientist.
