Overview

Throughout the Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environmental Management and Sustainability) you will explore ways to manage the interactions between people and the environment, ready for a career that makes a positive impact on our world. Combining the latest research with extensive application of skills in professional, community, lab and field settings you will devise and implement innovative solutions to protect natural resources in local and global contexts.

Develop the confidence to address some of the biggest environmental issues we face on a global scale by exploring the role science and society play in achieving global sustainability. Fieldwork is a rewarding part of this course and you will get plenty of opportunities to apply your skills in outdoor and community settings. Industry placements provide valuable professional experience and the opportunity to work alongside experienced environmental scientists.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Applied data analytics (minor only), Environmental management (Mapping, Bushfire, Catchment, Coastal and marine, Conservation, Land, Parks, Policy and Planning), Environmental science (Ecology, Social science, Research methods, Environmental health), Global engagement (minor only), Indigenous studies (minor only, online only), Sustainability (Waste management, Environmental impact assessment, Environmental protection, Water resources management, Natural resources management).

Potential Career Outcomes

Careers may include Managers in Catchment, Environment, Nature-based recreation, Park and reserves and Water resources. Conservation planner, Ecologists, Ecotour operator, Officer in Environmental communications, Environmental protection, Sustainable energy, Waste and resource recovery or Environmental sustainability. Environmental consultant, Environmental educator, Environmental planner, Environmental researcher, Environmental scientist, Landcare facilitator or Marine and coastal planner.
