Overview

Break traditional disciplinary boundaries in a step toward a career that addresses the most pressing issues of our time, including biodiversity protection, food and water security, resource depletion, and climate change. 
 
This unique and comprehensive degree combines science and social science knowledge, designed to give you all the competencies required to succeed in environmental governance and change-making positions, or to become a sustainability leader, and help protect our natural environment. Through work in the classroom, laboratory and field, students gain an understanding of both scientific and social theory. Students engage in several real-life projects that provides them with practical experience.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL or at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL); Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to stated Year 12 prerequisites.

Potential Career Outcomes

With the emergence of the green economy, graduates are highly sought after thanks to their rare combination of environmental science and environmental policy skills. 
 
Graduates work in a range of organisations, including government departments, consulting firms, and private businesses in urban and rural areas. You may undertake a host of tasks relating to environmental management, policy and protection, identifying community needs, environmental planning and consultancy.
