Learn how to use exercise to restore good health and physical capability to people after injury or illness when you study exercise rehabilitation at UOW. You will learn how to design, implement and evaluate exercise and physical activity to improve the quality of life and manage physical function in people with chronic disease and physical disabilities. Study anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and more as you gain a basic understanding of the anatomical and physiological basis of human motion.
How does exercise affect human performance in sport, aging and healthy living? What is the anatomical and physiological basis of human motion? On completion, you will be able to answer these questions and more as you develop the skills to meet the needs of tomorrow's employers.
Design the career of your choice as you build highly competitive skills through enquiry-based learning. You will benefit from faculty who are some of the best in their fields, driving cutting- edge research and solutions to global issues. You will study anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescription, clinical exercise physiology, biomechanics, and neuromechanics as part of your core subjects. Scientific training will improve your skills in data gathering and analysis, physiological systems integration and, most importantly, understanding the fundamental processes behind both healthy and unhealthy human bodies. This scientific foundation will enable you to adapt to a variety of situations in the workplace and to develop exercise programs for a wide variety of individuals with various health conditions and disabilities. You will participate in practical classes in our purpose-built Sciences Teaching Facility and be exposed to the latest advances in technology. The Bachelor of Exercise Science and Rehabilitation includes advanced clinical training for work as an exercise physiologist. As an industry-accredited course, you will undertake 500 hours of clinical workplace experience.
Throughout this degree, you will gain hands-on experience, make meaningful professional connections and have the opportunity for practical placements where you'll develop your skills on real people, in a real-world setting.
Biomechanics, exercise physiology, exercise prescription and rehabilitation, functional anatomy, human anatomy and physiology.
Cardiac rehabilitation, case worker, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, exercise physiology, allied health services (including clinical/cardiac technology), health management programs for the treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease and musculoskeletal/neurological disorders.
