Overview

Prepare yourself for a career as an accredited exercise scientist with a course that focuses on improving sports practice and using exercise interventions for healthy people, including high performance and recreational athletes. This course will build your knowledge of the science that underpins sport. You will study sports-related across biological science, and social sciences, and career and professional development, including introductory and advanced-level studies in kinesiology, biomechanics, physiology, psychology and motor control. You will learn in state-of-the-art laboratories using hands-on techniques and you will gain practical experience applying your knowledge in a combination of our internal clinic and through external, supervised placement hours. You will a graduate with employable skills for a range of roles in exercise and sport science, community fitness and health, as well as research.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Exercise Science (Sport Practice).

Potential Career Outcomes

This course may lead to a career in sport science, strength and conditioning, high performance sport, elite sport, community fitness and health services, exercise and sport scientist in professional sport, exercise physiologist, exercise rehabilitation, personal fitness trainer, special populations training and sport nutritionist. Graduates of this course have been employed in elite sport organisations, leisure centres and community service organisations or even started their own business.
