Overview

The performance-based Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) is designed to challenge your technical, creative and artistic abilities and sensibilities through specialist training in contemporary dance, ballet, somatic practices, choreographic projects and performances, dance sciences and safe dance practice. The integrated approach to curriculum delivery develops technically strong, kinaesthetically aware dance artists.

You will also undertake critical and theoretical studies that will introduce you to the diversity of contemporary performing arts practices, and choose breadth subjects from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music, or from the University of Melbourne's broad undergraduate subjects.

During your studies you will have access to state-of-the-art facilities including five purpose-built dance studios, seminar rooms, dedicated video editing suites for dance video, and an intimate studio theatre.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 25 in English other than EAL.

Non-Year 12 prerequisites

As for Year 12 or subject equivalents.
