As a food scientist, you could work to develop new food products before they hit the consumer shelf, ensuring the foods we eat are more nutritionally balanced, safe to consume and desirable to purchase. With a Bachelor of Food Science and Human Nutrition, you will stay up to date on the latest scientific developments and be equipped with the specialist knowledge and skills needed for a successful career in the food science, health and nutrition industries.
Biology and biochemistry, biomedical science, chemistry, essential nutrients, food marketing and consumer behaviour, food product development, future foods, food safety and microbiology, functional foods and health claims, food sustainability, plant and animal food products, nutrition in health and disease.
Graduates are highly employable and career opportunities include: food product developer, food consultant, food inspector, food product marketer, food scientist, technologist or chemist, quality assurance officer, health promotion officer, community health promotion, nutritionist, flavourist, nutrition education and research.
