Overview

Fusing the artistic and technical, this degree explores techniques to engage and excite traditional gamers and broader audiences alike. Game development relies on the skills of a range of specialists to bring projects from concept to realisation. In this degree, you can choose a major that aligns with the aspect of games design that most suits your ambitions. You will also have the freedom to explore a range of other subjects, including computer programming, real-time environments, games history and culture, narrative and character development, audio and more. Choose to focus on concept art, 3D computer imagery, interactive animation and interactive player experience design, while having the freedom to explore contemporary developments in the practice of interactive game design and related disciplines. You will learn the fundamentals of game design and related production disciplines. In the third year, you will embark on a major team-based capstone project where you’ll create a production to commercial standards, which will be the cornerstone of your early-career portfolio. Majors

Animating; art direction; computer generated imagery (CGI); player experience.

Potential Career Outcomes

Graduates may find opportunities as prop, environment, character or technical artist; gameplay, level, system or combat designer; gameplay programmer; 3D modeller; 2D or 3D animator; or motion capture animator; mining and medical simulation and training; educational software development; or form your own independent game development studio.
