Overview

With increasing demand in Australia for health workers, graduates can choose from a range of fulfilling careers as a health science professional. This course is designed to provide you with the foundation, flexibility and pathway for a career in health sciences. It combines studies in health promotion, public health, health policy, health management, health research, gender and health, nutrition, project design, health and disease patterns including disease prevention and management, and integrated learning opportunities in a variety of settings. You will study a common first year after which students select majors and continue with the bachelor program, exit the course with a Diploma of Health Science, or transfer into other courses within our College of Health and Biomedicine (subject to meeting selection criteria).

Minors available as part of this degree include: Bioscience, Health and Nutrition, Health (Sport Science minor) and Indigenous Health.

Prerequisites

Year 12 prerequisites

Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or at least 20 in English other than EAL.

Majors

Indigenous health, Public health.

Potential Career Outcomes

The type of careers this qualification leads to may include disease monitoring programs, public health research programs, international health officer, administrator, public health educator, public health and health science related fields, health networks, primary care organisations and evaluating public health needs.
